Strategic Outreach and the Value of Keeping Doors Open
From time to time, a business advisor will reach out to leaders whose companies show signs of growth, innovation, and ambition. Their message won’t be a sales pitch, but a genuine interest and a belief that experience-driven insight can add value.
Recently, one such outreach was met with a polite rejection, followed swiftly by a block to prevent a further approach. Although unexpected and perhaps disproportionate, it served as a useful reminder:
- Not every opportunity needs a yes.
- Burning bridges too quickly can close off future value opportunities.
- Timing matters. So does openness.
In business, the best outcomes often come from those conversations we didn’t expect to have. Strategic insight may not always be needed today, but when it is, it helps to know who you can call.
This advisor will continue to reach out where alignment is clear. Because experience-driven advice is a powerful asset, especially when the time is right.
Sometimes, the value of a conversation only becomes clear in hindsight. Best not to scorch the path to it.
Always curious how others would navigate this.
